Opening in early 2026, Base71 Youth Zone is an ambitious new £10 million facility designed to transform the lives of young people in Barnsley. Open seven days a week, it will offer a wide range of high-quality, inspiring activities in a safe, welcoming, and purpose-built environment.

Are you passionate about music and want to inspire the next generation of young talent? We’re looking for Sessional Youth Workers – Music to join our creative team at Base71 Youth Zone, opening in 2026.
You’ll deliver engaging, hands-on music sessions that help young people explore their creativity, learn new skills, and express themselves. From teaching instruments to running vocal workshops, songwriting, or music production, you’ll create opportunities for young people to shine and build confidence through music.
What you’ll do:
Lead fun, safe, and inclusive music sessions for young people aged 8–19 (or up to 25 with SEND).
Teach and support across a variety of music activities: instruments, vocals, songwriting, or production.
Encourage young people to perform, create, and showcase their talents through events and performances.
Build positive relationships and champion inclusion in every session.
What you’ll bring:
Experience delivering music sessions or workshops with young people.
Skills in one or more areas: teaching instruments (e.g. guitar, drums, piano), vocal coaching, songwriting, or music production.
Creativity, energy, and the ability to engage and inspire young people.
Experience working with young people from diverse backgrounds (including SEND).
Strong communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude.
