Opening in early 2026, Base71 Youth Zone is an ambitious new £10 million facility designed to transform the lives of young people in Barnsley. Open seven days a week, it will offer a wide range of high-quality, inspiring activities in a safe, welcoming, and purpose-built environment.
Base71 is part of the national OnSide network, which empowers young people across the UK through world-class youth work and inclusive opportunities.
The Opportunity
Are you passionate about making a difference for young people with additional needs? We’re looking for Sessional Youth Workers (SEND) to join the team at Base71 Youth Zone, opening in 2026.
You’ll play a vital role in creating a safe, fun, and inclusive environment where young people with disabilities and additional needs can thrive. From running engaging activities to supporting personal care and building confidence, you’ll help every young person feel welcome and empowered.
What you’ll do:
Deliver safe, varied, and inclusive activities for SEND young people.
Support young people with personal care, feeding, and medication (training provided).
Build positive relationships and encourage participation in sessions.
Champion inclusion and ensure every young person has their voice heard.
What you’ll bring:
Experience working with young people with SEND (essential).
Energy, empathy, and patience.
Confidence in engaging and supporting young people with a wide range of needs.
Knowledge of safeguarding and equality (training provided).
