Opening in early 2026, Base71 Youth Zone is an ambitious new £10 million facility designed to transform the lives of young people in Barnsley. Open seven days a week, it will offer a wide range of high-quality, inspiring activities in a safe, welcoming, and purpose-built environment.
Base71 is part of the national OnSide network, which empowers young people across the UK through world-class youth work and inclusive opportunities.
We are looking for individuals to join our team from October 2025 to prepare for our grand opening in 2026.
The Opportunity
Are you fun, full of energy, and passionate about making a difference to young people’s lives? We’re looking for Sessional Youth Workers to join our team at Base71 Youth Zone, opening in 2026.
The Recreation area is the beating heart of Base71 – from pool tournaments and quizzes to health debates, games, and projects, no two days are the same! You’ll create a fun, safe, and welcoming environment where young people can relax, get involved, and have their voices heard.
What you’ll do:
Run safe, engaging, and inclusive recreational activities.
Inspire and support young people to take part and try new things.
Build positive relationships and champion young people’s voices.
Promote equality, inclusion, and wellbeing.
What you’ll bring:
Experience working with young people (aged 8–19, or up to 25 with SEND).
Energy, creativity, and a positive approach.
Ability to engage and support young people from all backgrounds.
Knowledge of safeguarding, inclusion, and health & safety (training provided).
