The Basic Training Adaptation Programme (BTAP) is currently transitioning into the Individual Training Education and Development Programme (ITEDP) with the remit to modernise and optimise training, training delivery and support services, whilst protecting the ability to grow quickly in time of national emergency, and to harness different approaches to education and the power of modern technology to deliver individual training.

As Programme Director, you will be working alongside a diverse team consisting of military and civilian team members to ensure the successful delivery of the programme through each of its critical stages. You will also Support the AITC vision through strategic management, governance and delivery of this activity.

This position is one of a number of Project Delivery (PD) roles within the Army, which offers a wider PD community for support and the prospect of further development beyond this role.This is an opportunity to shape the detail of the new ITED programme following the delivery of the mandate and the approval of the Strategic Outline Case. Central to this role is providing effective and timely governance, reporting and updates to various groups and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities of a Programme Director:

Maintain oversight of the AITC change landscape.
Within the outline provided by the ITEDP mandate, scope and initiate the ITEDP and establish the associated Governance and Commercial framework/activity.
Identify and scope constituent ITEDP projects, providing oversight and direction to project teams and holding them to account for delivery and support as required movement of strategic works into business-as-usual governance.
Own the production of business cases supporting major change programmes.
Management of reporting for ITEDP into the Standing Joint Headquarters, the Army Headquarters via the Army Portfolio Office, and within AITC.
Manage key dependencies and interfaces, owning key stakeholder relationships, leading, and delivering both internal and external communications.
Assure Risk, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies & Opportunities (RAIDO), ensuring mitigations are in place and resolved through negotiated agreement.
Direct the Business Change function and benefits monitoring of the programme, transitioning responsibility to the Programme Business Change Authority role.
Oversee the requirements and relationship aspects of any procurement to ensure the Department’s interests, policies and legislation are maintained.
Responsible for resourcing, administering, maintaining, and developing the project teams.
As the senior Civil Servant in AITC, contribute to wider delivery of communications to civilian staff, working with the Chief of Staff AITC and Civilian Workforce Adviser to ensure civilian staff are informed about the programme and wider Departmental initiatives.
As one of highest profile and demanding roles within the new Command, you will need to be flexible, innovative and energetic in your approach.
You should be agile within the transformation area. By its very nature change requires a flexible approach and the candidate may find themselves working on many different aspects of change as the new organisation develops.
You will act as the champion for the programme, and the PD function more broadly and take authority and personal accountability for their delivery.  
Promote the AITC, and by extension the Army, as a positive place to work and championing a diverse and inclusive workplace.
You will be expected to engage confidently with a range of stakeholders and develop strong professional relationships as well as providing visible leadership and strategic direction to the various teams within the programme, promoting an energised culture focused on collaborative working.
