Job Description:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic, and dedicated individual to join our support team at Aberporth School. A Teaching Assistant plays a key role in supporting primary pupils of all ages, including those with learning difficulties. The role involves assisting the class teacher with learning activities, providing one-to-one or small group support, and implementing intervention programmes as part of the school’s universal provision. The assistant is expected to promote a safe, inclusive, and positive environment that supports pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development.

Main Responsibilities:

- Support primary pupils of all ages in the classroom, including those with learning difficulties.
- Work under the direction of the class teacher to assist with learning and development activities.
- Provide individual or small group support to improve understanding and progress.
- Assist with implementing intervention programmes as part of the school’s universal provision.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher.
- Support pupils’ social and emotional development in a safe and inclusive environment.
- Prepare learning resources and assist with classroom organisation.
- Ensure safeguarding and health and safety policies are followed at all times.

Essential Skills and Experience:

- Experience working with children with additional needs.
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to the needs of the classroom.

Desirable:

- Understanding of the diverse needs of pupils, including those with learning difficulties.
- Experience in providing learning support or interventions (advantageous).
- Level 2 qualification in Learning Support or equivalent (or willingness to work towards one).
