My client operates Singapore’s leading independent referral veterinary hospital, home to a multidisciplinary team of specialists in small animal surgery, internal medicine, neurology, exotic companion mammals, and cardiology. With cutting-edge diagnostic and therapeutic technology, the hospital delivers personalised, high-quality care.
Its 24/7 Emergency & Critical Care (ECC) department is fully equipped and staffed by experienced veterinarians and nurses, ensuring round-the-clock support for urgent cases. The hospital also offers hydrotherapy and rehabilitation services through certified professionals, promoting enhanced recovery and wellbeing.
About the Role
The hospital is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager to lead its Veterinary Nursing team and uphold exceptional clinical and operational standards. Reporting to the COO, this role works closely with Specialists and Veterinarians to ensure efficient departmental coordination.
The Nurse Manager will oversee nursing operations hospital-wide while directly managing the ECC nursing team.
Work Schedule:
• 4-day work week
• 3 ECC days: 7am–7pm (rotational; includes weekends/PH as required)
• 1 operational day: 9am–6pm (fixed), dedicated to process improvement with the COO
Key Responsibilities
Hospital Operations
• Oversee daily clinical workflows and ensure consistent standards.
• Conduct operational audits to reduce bottlenecks and patient downtime.
• Implement time-management improvements and track quarterly progress.
• Maintain staff readiness through structured SOP training.
ECC Leadership
• Ensure 24/7 ECC nurse coverage with optimised shift planning.
• Use data-driven staffing to match peak emergency demand.
• Improve triage prioritisation through digital tools.
• Monitor ECC KPIs, patient outcomes, and satisfaction.
• Streamline emergency intake processes and enhance response times.
• Provide specialised training for high-pressure case handling.
• Standardise reporting to support smooth case transitions.
• Foster strong collaboration between ECC and other departments.
HR & Workforce Planning
• Lead mentorship, coaching, and development initiatives.
• Promote diversity and inclusion in hiring and workplace culture.
• Resolve staff concerns in partnership with the COO.
• Manage scheduling, attendance, and leave planning across departments.
• Support university partnerships for nursing internships and externships.
• Participate in candidate selection and handle disciplinary matters.
Desired Skills & Experience
• Degree or diploma in veterinary or general nursing.
• Advanced certifications (e.g., Cert III/IV) are an advantage.
• Strong background in patient care, team leadership, and clinical operations.
• Excellent mentoring, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of veterinary healthcare protocols and compliance.
