It's 24/7 Emergency & Critical Care (ECC) department is fully equipped to handle the most urgent and complex cases, staffed by highly skilled veterinarians and nurses who provide round-the-clock support. About the Role
The Senior Veterinary Nurse will play a pivotal role within the Emergency and Critical Care team, contributing to exceptional patient outcomes in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This position involves hands-on support in triaging emergency admissions, assisting with anaesthesia monitoring, and managing the care of ICU patients. The nurse will also participate actively in radiography, surgical preparation, postoperative recovery, and the safe handling and restraint of patients.
Alongside clinical responsibilities, the role requires confident communication with clients, participation in in-patient rounds, and a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth. As a senior member of the team, the nurse will also mentor junior staff and uphold the hospital’s high standards of patient care.
Key Responsibilities
• Triaging and assisting with new case admissions
• Supporting anaesthesia monitoring and emergency case recovery
• Assisting emergency veterinarians with inpatient and ICU care
• Monitoring critical patients in the ICU ward
• Performing radiographs
• Safely restraining patients for examinations and treatments
• Preparing patients for surgery, managing bandaging, and overseeing postoperative recovery
• Effective and empathetic client communication
• Attending in-patient rounds and engaging in ongoing professional development
• Training and guiding junior nurses and patient care assistants
Working Hours
• Day shifts, 7am–7pm
• 4-day work week
• Includes weekends and Public Holidays
