Summary

Our client, a well-established educational institution in Exeter, Devon, is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in assisting students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the individualised support necessary to thrive academically and socially.

As an integral member of our client's SEN department, the SEN Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. The ideal candidate should possess a genuine passion for working with children and young people, coupled with a strong understanding of the unique challenges faced by students with special educational needs.

Key responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant include:
- Providing one-to-one and small group support to students with special educational needs, adapting teaching methods and materials to meet individual learning requirements
- Collaborating with teachers to develop and implement personalised learning plans, ensuring that each student's needs are effectively addressed
- Monitoring and assessing student progress, maintaining accurate records, and providing regular feedback to teachers and parents
- Assisting with the preparation of learning resources and educational materials, tailoring them to the specific needs of individual students
- Encouraging student participation in classroom activities and promoting a positive, inclusive learning environment
- Supporting students with personal care needs, such as mobility, hygiene, and feeding, as required
- Accompanying students on educational visits and trips, ensuring their safety and well-being

To excel in this role, the ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- A minimum of a Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent experience working with children with special educational needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
- A patient, empathetic, and understanding approach to working with children and young people facing learning challenges
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to take on additional responsibilities as needed
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying up-to-date with best practices in SEN education

Our client offers a competitive salary of £105 to £115 per day, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Required qualifications and experience:
