This position is ideal for compassionate, proactive individuals looking to build a rewarding career supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) across Exeter and the surrounding areas.

As part of a committed education team, you will play a key role in helping pupils with additional learning needs reach their goals - academically, emotionally, and socially. Your contribution will directly support the school's mission to deliver high-quality, inclusive education for all learners.

Your Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Work alongside teachers and other support staff to provide tailored assistance to students with Autism, ADHD, or social-emotional needs.
- Deliver one-to-one and small-group interventions that encourage engagement and build confidence.
- Support lesson delivery by adapting resources and classroom materials to suit individual learning styles.
- Help to implement behaviour management strategies and individual education plans (IEPs).
- Monitor progress, record observations, and contribute to student reviews.
- Promote a calm, positive, and safe learning environment where every child can succeed.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking an individual who is passionate about supporting young people and making education accessible to all. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in an SEN or inclusive education setting.
- Confidence in managing challenging behaviour with empathy and structure.
- Knowledge or certification in Team Teach, PMVA, or other positive behaviour management training (or willingness to complete this).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A patient, resilient, and caring attitude, with a commitment to safeguarding and inclusion.

Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or social care are advantageous but not essential - genuine enthusiasm and dedication are highly valued.

Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience working with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, or Speech and Language difficulties.
- Familiarity with SEN frameworks, EHCPs, and tailored learning support strategies.
- Experience with therapeutic or de-escalation techniques.
- A background in classroom support, youth work, or care environments.

Why Join This School

This school is recognised for its inclusive ethos and commitment to developing both pupils and staff. You'll join a collaborative team that values creativity, empathy, and professional growth.
- Competitive rate of £19.05 per hour.
- Full-time hours that align with the academic calendar.
- Regular access to CPD, including Team Teach and safeguarding refreshers.
- Opportunities to build long-term placements and advance within the education sector.
- A friendly, supportive environment where staff wellbeing and collaboration come first.
