This is a unique opportunity for anyone interested in working at the very heart of Government and providing a vital link between the Prime Minister and the outside world while sampling the breadth of policies across departments. No.10 is a friendly and fascinating place to be, and the role provides an opportunity to see how it works and interacts with other parts of Government. You will be playing an important role in the way that the Prime Minister and Government are viewed externally and keeping the public informed.

The role requires good communication skills and the ability to build relationships (both with other teams within No.10 and with colleagues across Government whose advice and input is often required). You will need to be proactive in your approach to work, have an eye for detail, be able to work within hard deadlines, and contribute to the smooth running of the Direct Communications Unit. We are a diverse and welcoming team, and we strongly support apprenticeship schemes and personal development.

In particular, in this role you will have the opportunity to:

  • Manage a small team of correspondence officers;
  • Identify trends and anticipate problems in order to prioritise work and provide a high quality service;
  • Motivate and assist colleagues to reach their potential;
