Barts Heart Centre is the heart attack centre for the region and provides invasive and interventional cardiology services, specialist cardiac imaging, electrophysiology services including device implants and ablation therapy for arrhythmia, grown up congenital heart disease, heart muscle disease and heart failure services. These posts therefore provide exposure to a wide variety of cardiology and medical conditions.



The main responsibility is to provide day-to-day care for cardiology inpatients, directly supervised by ward registrars and the consultant of the week. The post-holders will be included in a full shift rota which includes weekday shifts, weekend shifts, and night shifts supported by on-site registrars. The rota is compliant with the European Working Time Directive.

The posts would be suitable for medical trainees who have completed Foundation (or equivalent) competencies and wish to gain further experience in Cardiology. The year-long post would be ideal for a trainee with Core Medical (or equivalent) competencies who intends to complete Alternative Certification for Stage I General Internal Medicine training or ST4 training for Cardiology.
