Job title: COBOL Programmer Analyst
We are seeking an experienced COBOL Programmer Analyst for a futuristic position. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge in COBOL, SQL, JCL, File-AID, Abend-AID, CA7, Endevor, and CICS, along with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. This role requires working closely with business and IT teams to deliver reliable and efficient software solutions on the IBM mainframe platform.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, test, and deploy COBOL programs in batch and online environments.
Maintain and enhance existing programs based on business and technical requirements.
Create and manage JCL scripts for batch processing, ensuring optimal job performance.
Debug and resolve application issues using Abend-AID, File-AID, and logs.
Analyze abends and production incidents and provide root cause analysis and permanent fixes.
Schedule, monitor, and troubleshoot batch jobs using CA7 job scheduler.
Use Endevor for code version control, promotion, and environment management.
Develop and support CICS-based online transaction programs.
Write and optimize SQL queries for database interaction.
Collaborate with business analysts, QA testers, and other developers to meet project goals.
Participate in code reviews, requirement analysis, and system design sessions.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in mainframe development and support roles.
Proficient in COBOL, SQL, JCL, CICS.
Strong hands-on experience with File-AID, Abend-AID, CA7, and Endevor.
Solid understanding of IBM z/OS mainframe architecture.
Experience in debugging and resolving batch and online job issues.
Knowledge of VSAM file structures and processing.
Familiarity with TSO/ISPF for interactive system access and development.
Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
Experience with DB2 or other relational databases on mainframe.
Knowledge of IMS DB/DC is a plus.
Exposure to Agile or Waterfall SDLC methodologies.
Experience in financial, insurance, or healthcare systems is desirable.
Knowledge of job automation and monitoring tools.
