We are seeking an experienced COBOL Systems Analyst for a futuristic position. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in COBOL programming, business analysis, and hands-on experience with mainframe tools and technologies such as TSO/ISPF, DB2, and RACF. This role involves working closely with business stakeholders, developers, and QA teams to analyze, document, and deliver scalable, high-performing solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Gather and analyze business and system requirements by interacting with stakeholders, SMEs, and end-users.
Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications.
Conduct data analysis using DB2, COBOL, and other mainframe tools to support business insights and application enhancements.
Participate in the design, analysis, and support of mainframe-based applications.
Work within TSO/ISPF environments to access, analyze, and troubleshoot mainframe code and data.
Understand and implement security and access control using RACF.
Collaborate with development and QA teams to ensure complete and accurate system implementation.
Assist in creating test plans, reviewing test cases, and validating application behavior.
Document business processes, system functionality, and technical workflows.
Support system integration, UAT activities, and post-implementation reviews.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Strong hands-on experience with COBOL in a mainframe environment.
Proven ability in requirement gathering, business analysis, and translating business needs into technical solutions.
Working knowledge of TSO/ISPF, JCL, and DB2.
Experience with RACF for access and security management.
Proficient in data analysis techniques and tools for legacy systems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder management.
Strong documentation and analytical skills.
Familiarity with SDLC and change management processes.
Experience with VSAM, CICS, and file handling in mainframe systems.
Exposure to Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies.
Background in banking, insurance, or financial domains is a plus.
Understanding of mainframe modernization concepts and tools.
Basic knowledge of job scheduling tools (e.g., Control-M, CA7) is advantageous.
