About the Role
This is a unique and varied role, working within the Local Authority’s (LA) School Admissions and Pupil Services. You will be a self-starter leading on the operational aspects of the LA’s Fair Access Protocol (FAP), to ensure unplaced children that meet the FAP are placed swiftly at an appropriate school or provision.
You will also lead the fair access panel for primary aged children across LCC and the Secondary Education Inclusion Partnership (SEIP) for North-West Leicestershire. In addition, you will represent the LA at the four remaining SEIPs to ensure the efficient placement of children.
A good understanding of the School Admissions Code 2021 and the Fair Access Protocol is vital in order to discharge LA duties. You will report directly to the School Admissions and Pupil Services Service Manager and liaise with the Admissions Operational Lead. You will also be required to build strong relationships with a range of internal and external agencies and stakeholders to support swift school placements.
An enhanced DBS check is required for this post.

About You
To apply for this post, you must:
- To be responsible for ensuring Leicestershire discharges its Fair Access Protocol (FAP) responsibilities for vulnerable children, hard to place and those without a school place;
- To Chair Leicestershire’s Primary Fair Access Panel;
- To lead on administration of referrals to Primary and Secondary Panels and on tracking, recording of outcomes and to ensure prompt decision making by Panels;
- To oversee and offer advice when processing referrals to Secondary Education Inclusion Partnerships (SEIPS);
- To advise on the Local Authority’s (LA) FAP in accordance with the School Admissions Code 2021 and relevant legislation;
- To support the service manager’s in their absence in this area of responsibility;
- To work with a range of internal and external agencies to ensure children gain a school place swiftly and where possible within required timeframes.
