Job Advert
This role can be performed remotely, with occasional travel to BACP House in Lutterworth for training, meetings, events and as
required. We currently do 4 staff events per year, and have Professional Standards team days.
Our Professional Standards Development Facilitators contribute to development and delivery of BACP Professional Standards strategy
through creation and implementation of evidence-based standards for practitioner training and practice, supported by research and
underpinned by the Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. The competences and curricula developed by the PSDF
contribute to delivery of BACP Professional Standards strategy and wider BACP strategic intents.
Principal accountabilities:
1. To develop, deliver and disseminate a rolling programme of evidence-based competence frameworks, curricula, and other practice
and training resources, in collaboration with Competence Development Lead (CDL), Head of Professional Standards (HoPS) and
Deputy Head of Professional Standards (DHoPS) according to the agreed competence framework development process.
2. To undertake literature searches, screening and analysis in line with established methods to review and evaluate the evidence
based that underpins practice and training standards.
3. To collaborate with Professional Standards colleagues in developing, delivering and disseminating a suite of accreditation,
endorsement and approved qualification schemes underpinned by evidence-based competence frameworks and curricula.
4. To produce project plans and liaise with all stakeholders to meet deadlines and financial forecasts. To provide Professional
Standards and wider BACP colleagues with regular project updates including any potential issues that may affect project
delivery.
5. To chair Expert Reference Groups and ensure consultants’ advice and feedback is gathered to appropriately inform project
objectives.
6. To develop and deliver a communication and engagement plan to raise awareness and encourage use of BACP standards, competences
and curricula by members, training providers, service providers and other stakeholders.
7. To promote internal and external awareness and use of the Ethical Framework for Counselling Professions and Good Practice
resources. To contribute to implementation and review processes for these resources.
8. To represent relevant workstreams at internal and external stakeholder meetings.
Knowledge & experience:
* Educated to MSc/MA level in counselling/psychotherapy (or other appropriate level for related professions), with knowledge of a
range of counselling modalities
* BACP accredited (or equivalent) counsellor/psychotherapist
* Experience in undertaking literature reviews, qualitative research and thematic analysis
* Experienced trainer in counselling/psychotherapy practitioner training with knowledge and experience of writing level
appropriate curricula, learning outcomes, assessment criteria and training materials
* Knowledge of contemporary education issues and qualification frameworks
* Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team
* Excellent inter-personal skills with an ability to present, communicate and engage at all levels in person and over video-call
* Ability to establish rapport with key stakeholders and to facilitate good working relationships
* Experienced in planning, organising and project management, delivering to deadlines and service level agreements, coupled with
the ability to be adaptable and flexible
* Able to travel as required throughout the UK to meet with a wide range of stakeholders
* Good computer literacy skills including MS Office & Teams and ability to learn and adapt to IT systems
