If so, we’re looking for a Capital Equipment Manager to join our Clinical Engineering team at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals.
As our new Capital Equipment Manager, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the equipment workstream of capital and major clinical projects across the Trust. This includes the effective delivery of the Clinical Equipment Replacement Programme (CERP) and other high-profile initiatives that ensure the Trust’s equipment infrastructure remains modern, safe, and aligned to clinical needs. This is a key role requiring close collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders including clinical teams, engineers, procurement specialists, finance professionals, and external suppliers.
You will play a lead role in the planning, co-ordination, and execution of multiple projects within the Clinical Engineering portfolio. From creating detailed project plans and managing project budgets to monitoring risks and ensuring timely delivery, your skills in project management and service planning will be pivotal. The role involves regular reporting to senior management and Trust committees, with a particular focus on capital planning, equipment lifecycle management, and the integration of clinical priorities within a busy hospital environment.
The Capital Equipment Manager plays a central role in overseeing the planning, delivery, and operational management of the equipment workstream within capital projects and the Clinical Equipment Replacement Programme (CERP) at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This role ensures the Trust’s clinical equipment is safe, effective, and aligned with clinical and operational priorities.
A key responsibility is to lead on the planning and implementation of equipment elements in capital and major projects. This includes developing detailed project plans, establishing timelines and resource needs, and ensuring effective coordination with internal clinical teams, finance, procurement, and external suppliers. The postholder will facilitate regular equipment project meetings, resolving issues and reporting on progress to senior management and Trust committees.
The postholder will oversee the full lifecycle management of clinical equipment. Working closely with clinical and technical teams, they will prioritise equipment replacement based on clinical risk, safety requirements, and regulatory compliance. This includes identifying high-risk devices, coordinating procurement processes, and ensuring seamless integration into operational services.

• Lead the planning, implementation and delivery of the equipment workstream of capital projects.
• Develop and manage detailed project plans for the equipment workstream, including timelines, milestones and resource allocation ensuring alignment with Trust goals.
• Monitor and report on the progress of projects equipment workstreams, identifying and mitigating risks to ensure successful outcome.
• Oversee the lifecycle management of clinical equipment including planning and co-ordinating the replacement of outdated or high-risk devices.
• Work closely with clinical teams to prioritise equipment replacements based on clinical needs, safety and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with other stakeholders such as Estates and Facilities to ensure a comprehensive approach.
• Facilitate regular equipment project meetings, providing updates and resolving any issues that arise.
• Collaborate with clinical staff, department heads and other stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure project objectives are met.
• Ensure continuous oversight and daily monitoring of the CERP.
• Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, and other external partners, negotiating terms and ensuring quality standards are met.
• Deliver updates and detailed information to the Capital and Estates Committee as needed.
