We are seeking an Admissions Clerk to join our DPU team, the post is 15 hours per week, the shifts would be Monday and Friday working 07:00-15:00 and would include weekend working on a rota basis (where they would have a Mon / Fri as day off in lieu).
The Arthur South Day Procedure Unit is a fully integrated unit comprising of Surgical and Anesthetic pre-assessment, theatres, recovery areas and wards. Our aim is to put patients first in an area of the highest quality of care. Alongside the nursing and medical teams, the administrative team ensures the unit runs smoothly, effectively and act as a reliable point of contact along a patient's pathway. As part of this large and friendly team you'll be expected to maintain a high level of the patient-focused care we aim to deliver for our patients.
The role of the Admissions clerk is to locate and prepare paperwork to ensure the correct documentation is available for nurse-led pre-assessment and anesthetic assessment, day case and inpatient surgery.
The post-holder will ensure the smooth running of the clinics and surgery by collating the lists in good time, checking against the Patient Administration System (PAS) and the Operating Room Scheduling Office System (ORSOS), highlighting any issues and carrying out any additional duties which may occur in this busy unit.
The successful candidate would also be expected to cover our Day Procedure reception desk when the service need requires.
A high degree of organizational, time-management and prioritization skills are required for this role.

• Locate and retrieve paperwork from around the hospital site, in preparation anaesthetic assessment, day case and inpatient surgery.
• Ensure admission paperwork is filed and stored correctly within the unit.
• Prepare packs for clinic with appropriate standardised assessment and admission documentation as required in advance of clinic taking place.
• Ensure paperwork is taken to appropriate locations or collected by appropriate person in advance of patient’s admission.
• Return Episodic Folders / notes to Health Records Library if no longer required.
• Ensure the Emergency General Surgery lists are checked, and spreadsheet updated.
• Prepare Community Dental paperwork ahead of admission and register patients on PAS where relevant.
• Ensure all patients who require a preoperative assessment have an appointment ahead of their admission and liaise with the relevant waiting list team where one is not identified.
