Due to promotion and service demands we are now looking for an Assistant PWP to join our team in H&F NHS Talking Therapy Services.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity for those looking to begin career in mental health / psychology by working in IAPT/NHS Talking Therapies. This would be an ideal position for someone who wants to apply for PWP training (Via postgrad or apprenticeship route) and become a qualified PWP in future. We will offer guidance and support to all Assistant PWPs looking to apply for one-year PWP training (training fees and salary are funded).
As part of your role you will be given excellent training and support and there is the potential to progress your career. We are looking for individuals from any background so, if you meet the essential criteria, please do apply even if you haven’t got experience working in a similar setting.
We provide support and treatment to clients with depression, anxiety and other mental health challenges. This is really important work and many of our clients are helped significantly within a short period of treatment which is very rewarding to see.
You’ll support our clinicians in screening clients to see if they are suitable for what we offer, help us run classes and events, complete psychological assessments with clients and much more!
Both teams are friendly and supportive and prioritise staff wellbeing. You’ll receive excellent training, regular one-to-ones and a structured induction program.
Full training will be provided at the start of the role and it is not necessary to have prior relevant experience within Talking Therapies services. Following completion of a thorough 1-month training programme, an in-house role play exam must be passed in order to progress with clinical work and move forward in the role.
This would be an ideal position for someone who wants to apply for PWP training and become a qualified PWP in future. We will offer guidance and support to all Assistant PWPs to apply for one-year, paid PWP training. After qualifying from the PWP training course you would be paid at Band 5.
Assistant PWPs will be required to attend work full-time at their main team base for the first 3 months in post. This will allow you to complete training, shadow staff, receive supervision and get to know the team. You will therefore need to be able to travel to central Hammersmith. Subject to review of your job plan and service demands after 3 months in post you can move to hybrid working (working days in the office and days at home).
All staff will be provided with a laptop and equipment needed to complete the role.
Hours of work will be 9am – 5pm five days per week. Based on service demands and training / shadowing opportunities you may be asked to work 12-8pm shifts on occasion. However, some flexibility with start and finish times can be considered in order to support staff who have caring or other responsibilities.
