Crynodeb

‘Social work is a complex profession, underpinned by specific values, skills and knowledge, including the social model of disability; communication expertise and command of legislation. In the mental health context, it seeks to promote longterm recovery: the rebuilding of a ‘worthwhile life’ for service users through gaining control, being connected socially, having valued social roles and positive self-identity’ (Tew et al, 2012).

You will work alongside the Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist as part of a multi-disciplinary team and will be responsible for contributing to the identification of speech, language and communication needs of the individuals supported by this service, highlighting the reasonable adjustments to be made to enable children and young people to access therapeutic interventions, providing assessment and advice where appropriate, signposting to relevant services, alongside supporting the capacity and capabilities of the staff team with regard to communication issues.

You will develop and provide a Specialist Speech and Language Therapy service to Children and Young People with speech, language and communication needs including autism as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Responsibilities includes individual assessment, therapy and management, training, advice and liaison through a consultative approach. Developing specialist diagnostic assessment skills will be supported by the service.

You will be well supported by a Highly Specialist SLT and Speech and Language Therapy Clinical Lead within CAMHS with many opportunities for peer support and clinical supervision. The role involves close work with colleagues from a range of disciplines. You will enjoy close links with our team and our SLT colleagues within the East Midlands, and benefit from excellent levels of support, supervision, IT and CPD opportunities.
