Summary


Full time Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist

We are excited to offer an opportunity for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join the adult Neurodevelopmental Specialist Service (NeSS) within Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust. We are seeking an enthusiastic SLT who is interested in developing a specialism in neurodevelopmental conditions and diagnostic assessment.

You will be well supported by specialist and senior colleagues, with many opportunities for peer support and multi-disciplinary working.

You will enjoy close links with our team and our SLT colleagues within the East Midlands, and benefit from excellent levels of support, supervision, IT and CPD opportunities.

The role is based in Nottingham (Highbury Hospital), working in a clinic based model, with opportunity for some remote and flexible working.

This post is eligible for a Golden Hello payment of £2,750 for new starters who are external to the Trust. This is payable in 3 instalments over a 2 year period. This payment is only eligible to new starters who do not already hold a contract of employment with the Trust. This post also includes paid enhancements for unsocial hours working during night, weekends and bank holidays.

You will be contributing to a multi-disciplinary service supporting adults with autism and/or ADHD. This will include:

Contributing to the multi-disciplinary neurodevelopmental diagnostic pathway

Carry out individual Speech and Language Therapy assessments and produce reports and recommendations for implementing communication reasonable adjustments

Providing specific speech and language therapy interventions to individuals

Delivering psycho-education support in relation to autism and ADHD to individuals post-diagnosis

Liaison and advice with families, carers, and health care colleagues in how to support adults with neurodevelopmental differences in order to facilitate reasonable adjustments and increased access to services.

SLTs in NeSS are a core part of the multi-disciplinary team and in supporting the diagnostic pathway. Your role will include diagnostic assessment as well as delivering post-diagnostic support, focussing on a neuro-affirmative approach to support individuals and people in their lives to understand their neurodevelopmental and communication differences.

You will contribute to the neurodevelopmental diagnostic pathway, including assessment and report writing.

You will be responsible for completing specialist speech and language therapy assessments and contributing to the identification of speech, language and communication needs, through understanding typical development and neurodevelopmental communication differences.

You will highlight communication risks and reasonable adjustments when providing 1:1 interventions and when formulating as part of the MDT.

You will contribute directly to offering bespoke therapeutic interventions working directly with service users, carers and families, the MDT and other agencies

The role requires a high level of clinical and professional expertise to ensure that adults with speech, language and communication needs can benefit from a well co-ordinated pro-active, specialist, efficient and effective speech and language therapy service within the designated setting.

The service includes individual assessment, therapy and management, training, advice and liaison through a consultative approach.

All Speech & Language Therapy employees must hold a relevant degree in Speech and Language Therapy and be registered with RCSLT and HCPC.
