Are you passionate about working with older adults with dementia or mental health needs?

We have a rare opportunity for a senior Occupational Therapist within our Mental Health for Services for Older People (MHSOP) inpatient therapy team. You will need to be motivated and passionate about the recovery-focused care of our older patients. The post is primarily based at Highbury Hospital (there may be some expectation to provide cover at Blossomwood, formerly Millbrook Mental Health Unit) working across two wards, with a caseload and supporting our junior OTs and support workers and developing the service. You will be part of a very supportive therapy team with a team leader, a fellow band 6 OT (at Blossomwood) and a range of MDT professionals. MHSOP OTs also have the support of our Clinical Specialist OT who runs regular support forums and highlights CPD opportunities.

As an occupational therapist you are a key member of the multidisciplinary team working in partnership with older adults, undertaking specialist occupational therapy assessments and contributing to multi-disciplinary treatment, care planning and providing leadership and supervision for junior staff members.

You will need to have a BSc in Occupational Therapy or equivalent. You need to be HCPC registered. It is essential that you are experienced in working with people with dementia and mental health conditions and have a working knowledge of occupational therapy assessments and interventions for this client group. It is also essential for you to have a positive attitude towards people with mental health needs.
