In this role, you’ll be part of our Technology Infrastructure team, helping to run and improve some of Booker’s most important IT systems — including servers, storage, security, data platforms and network connectivity.
You’ll work closely with internal teams and third‑party partners to manage day‑to‑day operations while also shaping long‑term plans. From performance optimisation to incident response, from disaster recovery testing to future capacity planning, your work will help keep our business running safely and efficiently.
Reporting to one of our Systems Engineering Managers, you’ll play a key part in delivering a secure, stable and resilient platform that supports colleagues across the business.
- Look after core systems such as servers, storage, databases and network connectivity
- Guide and coordinate the work of our mainly external engineering resources
- Keep our infrastructure performing at its best — secure, reliable, and up to date
- Ensure our systems meet budget, governance and business requirements
- Plan and deliver infrastructure projects, including upgrades and new solutions
- Manage incidents and changes, helping minimise disruption for colleagues
- Maintain clear service‑level reporting and support Disaster and Total Loss Recovery testing
- Work closely with application and business stakeholders to identify improvements
- Build strong relationships to ensure technology continues to support business growth
- Has proven experience working with infrastructure technologies (e.g. Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware or other virtualisation platforms, networking fundamentals, Zscaler Internet/Private Access)
- Is highly organised with strong governance, project management and budgeting skills
- Communicates clearly and builds positive, productive relationships
- Is committed to stability, service quality and security
- Stays calm under pressure and resolves problems effectively
- Can balance strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery
- Understands how to prioritise, manage dependencies and measure outcomes
- Has a strong drive to deliver meaningful results with a bias for action
If you’re excited by making things better, love working collaboratively, and enjoy turning plans into real, measurable improvements, we’d love to hear from you.
