Great opportunity to work as a Band Saw & Overhead Crane Operator for our client, a well-established company specialising in the supply and processing of steel materials and related products.

Staffline is recruiting Band Saw & Overhead Crane Operators in Wednesbury.

This is a skilled role requiring relevant industry experience.

Opportunity for long-term employment!

The rate of pay is £12.21 per hour. There will be a pay increase of £1 per hour upon successful transfer to a permanent contract!

This is a full-time role working fixed shifts, Monday to Friday, and the hours of work are:
- 8am to 5pm

Two 30-minute breaks.

Your Time at Work

As a Band Saw & Overhead Crane Operator, your duties include:

Goods In:
- Unloading deliveries using an overhead crane (working safely with colleagues and drivers)
- Inspecting materials against delivery notes
- Checking documentation and highlighting discrepancies
- Ensuring stock is correctly numbered and colour coded
- Placing materials in the designated receiving area

Customer Orders / Production:
- Setting up and operating a semi-automatic band saw
- Selecting and installing the correct blades
- Ensuring proper lubrication and maintenance of equipment
- Measuring materials accurately using measuring tools
- Loading and unloading materials using an overhead crane
- Recording and maintaining accurate job documentation
- Inspecting finished components for quality and specification compliance

Dispatch:
- Ensuring materials are correctly wrapped and labelled
- Preparing customer collections
- Processing carrier orders accurately
- Supporting vehicle loading where required

Health & Safety:
- Strict adherence to company and legal H&S standards
- Wearing required PPE at all times
- Reporting hazards, near misses, and incidents
- Signing and following risk assessments
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment

Our Perfect Worker

Our perfect worker will have a minimum of 2 years' steel industry experience, 1 year operating a semi-automatic band saw, and 1 year using an overhead gantry crane.

Applicants will have the ability to follow written and verbal instructions. You will have basic maths and English skills.

You will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team with good organisational skills.

Applications without the required experience will not be considered.
