Primary role

The Unaccompanied Housing Assistant will oversee the daily operations of our dormitory facilities. In this role, you will manage all aspects of resident/ dormitory housing, from processing applications and assigning quarters to conducting inspections and ensuring the overall habitability and cleanliness of the units. A key part of your duties will involve mentoring residents, guiding them on Air Force policies, and assisting in their adjustment to military life. You will also manage housing documentation, track furnishings using our IT system, and contribute to facility improvement plans.

Key Skills required for this role

1. Ability to gain knowledge of DoD, HQ USAF, MAJCOM, and local unaccompanied housing and furnishing management instructions, policies, and procedures.

2. Ability to gain knowledge of appropriated fund budget system.

3. Ability to gain knowledge of contracting provisions sufficient to support proper negotiations or commitment of government funds.

4. Ability to gain knowledge of safety and security instructions, regulations, practices, and procedures.

5. Ability to gain skills to manipulate computer data through input, retrieval, and storage of data.

6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Conditions of employment for this role

1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations.
2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential.
3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.
4. Overtime may be required.
5. You may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.
6. You must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
7. Your work hours will be 37.5 hours per week on a fixed schedule (Mon-Fri 0800-1630) where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization's flexible working policies.
8. You will be required to operate a motor vehicle while conducting inspections, surveys, and studies. A valid Category B driver's license is required for the position.
9. This position includes the responsibility of being on a rotating on-call schedule. While on call, the incumbent would be required to respond to late-night or weekend lockouts and emergency situations to handle administration when dormitory residents need to be moved to other rooms due to fire, flood, etc., or as directed by management.
10. Employee may be required to facilitate an on-call function over a 24-hour period covering 7 days a week as per the manning roster. For every calendar day of the year, one member of this roster will be designated as being on-call and the designee must be available on a standby basis. On-call status requires the designee to: (a) be in good health on their on-call days and be able to perform their job responsibilities on short notice; (b) refrain from activities that impair their ability to perform job duties, e.g., alcohol or drug use; (c) be in a position to provide an initial response by telephone within 10 minutes of being called; (d) remain within a 45-minute commuting radius from the installation; (e) keep the necessary transportation and telecommunication available to respond as described in items (c) and
(d) above. On-call allowance is activated only during the period of time the employee is performing the function of the on-call responsibilities. On-call allowance is not payable during periods of leave, sick absence, or when employee is not rostered.
11. The Local National Direct Hire (LNDH) Program does not participate in regular drug testing, however positions covered by this document may be subject to drug testing upon reasonable suspicion of substance abuse, and safety mishap or accident testing.
