Crynodeb
Clinical 1.1 - To assist and provide quality care to patients as delegated & documented by the responsible plaster technician / qualified staff within agreed protocols and treatment plans. 1.2 - Work unsupervised (tasks competent to do so) to assist with appropriate treatment plans as designated by a senior qualified professional. Treatment should be delivered in the most appropriate location for the client, adjusting own clinical interventions based on the patients fluctuating needs. 1.3 - To assist and ensure methods of treatment, its frequency and review are appropriate to the diagnosis/problem of the patient and within the priorities of the Service. To ensure that all client intervention is documented in a timely, objective, and confidential manner via specific service records. To assist in ensuring that any equipment/aids/treatments/ issued are fit for purpose and safe for use, and equipment stocks are maintained by following the correct re-ordering policy. To ensure a beneficial and positive communication with clients, their families/carers and other professionals involved, respecting individual needs and promoting user involvement/decision making To ensure all necessary intervention is undertaken in accordance with departmental policy / protocols / training and advises a Senior Registered Professional / Clinical Nurse Manager of an inability to do so in a timely manner. To organise and prioritise own daily workload within the scope of the role. Use well developed communication skills (appropriate to the clients needs) to establish good working relationships with colleagues, patients and carers and understanding potential barrier. Encourage patients and their carers to actively participate in care (inclusive of regaining and maintaining their personal independence through the use of persuasion and motivational skills). Deal with sensitive situations or contentious information. Assist patients with activities of daily living (including personal hygiene and toileting) and ensure patient comfort safety and dignity at all times. Remove sutures / staples / wound care when competent to do so. Assist in application and removal of plaster of paris/synthetic casts as routine and knowledge and expertise of application and removal of specialised cast. Manage a clean clinical environment and dispose of waste material appropriately. Education and Training 2.1 Actively engage and ensure own annual appraisal and personal development plan. Willing to attend a Royal Orthopaedic course affiliated to Stanmore for September 2026 intake.2.2 Attend staff mandatory training sessions keeping records of attendance / certificates and inform the Clinical Nurse Manager or designated mentor of when training has not been achieved.2.3 Assist in creating a positive work / learning environment which supports and facilitates learning for those working in the immediate area.2.4 Be responsible for keeping knowledge updated and to be prepared to undertake further professional/training/research projects for self-development, related to specific areas of expertise.2.5 Assure competence in relation to formal training and qualifications appropriate to role (example: British Orthopedic Association Casting Course).
