We are seeking a motivated and experienced Band 6 Clinical Hepatobiliary Nurse Specialist to join our specialist Endoscopy service. The post holder will provide high-quality, patient-centred nursing care and coordination for patients undergoing complex Hepatobiliary endoscopic procedures, including Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography and Endoscopic Ultrasound.

The role involves supporting the safe, effective, and timely delivery of the Hepatobiliary endoscopy pathway, working closely with consultants, specialist registrars, endoscopy teams, and the wider multidisciplinary team. The post holder will accept and coordinate referrals, support the planning and preparation of Hepatobiliary endoscopy lists, and ensure appropriate clinical, logistical, and consent arrangements are in place.

To support continuity of care and a comprehensive understanding of patient pathways, the post holder will assist clinically in the endoscopy procedure room on a regular basis (a minimum of two sessions per week). This will enable the nurse specialist to maintain hands-on clinical skills, develop in-depth procedural knowledge, and ensure effective follow-up and ongoing care for patients they support before, during, and after their procedure.

• The post holder will provide peri-procedural clinical support for patients with benign and malignant Hepatobiliary conditions, including patient education, assessment, coordination of care, and post-procedure follow-up. They will act as a clinical resource for the ward and endoscopy staff, offering specialist advice on patient preparation, recovery, escalation of care, and discharge planning.
• The role includes contributing to audit, research, service evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives, supporting governance requirements and compliance with Global Rating Scale and Joint Advisory Group standards. The post holder will also contribute to education and training for nursing and clinical staff across the Hepatobiliary and endoscopy pathways and support service development in line with Trust priorities.
• You will ensure safe patient flow across admissions, transfers, triage and discharge, deliver comprehensive pre and post procedure education, and maintain clear, compassionate communication with patients, carers and referrers. Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, you will attend Hepatobiliary and Upper GI MDT meetings, coordinate agreed actions, and provide timely feedback on outcomes and next steps.
