Summary
Who we are: https://www.imperial.nhs.uk/about-us
We’re recruiting for a compassionate and skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join our Neurology team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference for people living with epilepsy, working within a team committed to delivering safe, person‑centred and inclusive care.
In this specialist role, you’ll provide expert, holistic support to patients and their families — from assessment and diagnosis through to treatment planning and navigating the wider challenges epilepsy can bring. You’ll manage your own caseload, lead high‑quality nursing care, run nurse‑led clinics and offer specialist advice across primary, secondary and social care.
You’ll also contribute to service development, audit and education as part of our ongoing improvement work.
We’re looking for an experienced RN with strong post‑registration experience in neurology or a related field, advanced assessment skills and confidence working autonomously. You’ll bring a compassionate, patient‑centred approach, excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams. Travel between sites will be required as part of this role.
• To provide sound clinical leadership and develop support mechanisms for sharing good practice within the clinical setting and Trust wide.
• Maintain and promote effective communication both verbally and in writing with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and other Wards or Departments, including formal and informal presentation of information relating to your service.
• To assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care, providing specialist advice and actively seeking evidence based practice which will improve the quality of care and meet the needs of a group of patients.
• Manage episodes of care as own/joint/ shared caseload, discharging patients as per protocol.
• To be actively involved in the development of Trust policies and procedures, providing specialist input, leading their implementation and reinforce their use.
• To take the lead in ensuring compliance to Trust policies and procedures amongst the multi-disciplinary team.
• To manage the efficient and effective use of supplies, provisions and equipment within delegated budgets.
• Have continuing responsibility for the provision of a suitable, clean, uncluttered and safe environment for the physical and psychological wellbeing of staff, patients/clients and their relatives.
• Be actively involved in staff education and development, including utilising appropriate learning opportunities and to act as a mentor and resource for student nurses, adaptation and unqualified members of the nursing team.
