Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Provide full‑time, individual support to a 13‑year‑old pupil functioning at a very low level
- Assist with communication, engagement, and emotional regulation strategies
- Help reinforce learning tasks through repetition, modelling, and scaffolded support
- Work closely with teaching staff to implement personalised learning plans
- Support with daily routines, transitions, and sensory or behavioural needs
- Build a calm, trusting relationship to support engagement in lessons
- Adapt approaches based on the pupil’s developmental profile
- Uphold safeguarding expectations and prioritise pupil well‑being
Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Strong experience working with SEND pupils, ideally those functioning at early developmental levels
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach when supporting complex needs
- Confident using structured routines and personalised strategies
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
