We're currently recruiting for an additional SEND Teaching Assistant with strong SEMH experience to join a vibrant mainstream secondary school in the London Borough of Hounslow. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people, particularly at Key Stage 4.
Role: SEND Teaching Assistant (SEMH Focus)
Location: Mainstream secondary school, Hounslow
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £500.00 per week
Our client school is a well-regarded secondary with over 1,500 students and a thriving sixth form. Rated 'Good' by Ofsted and 'Outstanding' for personal development, the school prides itself on being inclusive, supportive, and committed to the success of all students. You'll be joining a dedicated SEND team with strong leadership and a positive working culture.
You will play a key role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, with a particular focus on Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will ideally have experience supporting students at Key Stage 4 and be confident assisting in Maths or English.
Your day-to-day duties will include:
- Providing in-class support to SEND students, particularly at KS4
- Supporting students with SEMH needs using effective behaviour regulation strategies
- Assisting with learning in core subjects, ideally Maths or English
- Promoting positive engagement, resilience, and wellbeing
- Supporting students during break times, lunch, trips, and extra-curricular activities
- Collaborating with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to secure the best possible outcomes
- Strong experience supporting students with SEMH needs
- Experience working with KS4 students (essential)
- Ideally experience supporting Maths or English at secondary level
- A calm, resilient, and proactive approach
- Excellent communication skills and strong emotional intelligence
- Previous experience in education, alternative provision, youth work, social care, or similar settings
- Located in a sought-after part of West London, with excellent transport links and green open spaces
- Welcoming and supportive SEND department with a clear structure and strong leadership
