SEND Teaching Assistant – Full-time, long-term temporary and ongoing role starting as soon as possible

Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide full‑time, individual support to a 13‑year‑old pupil functioning at a very low level
  • Assist with communication, engagement, and emotional regulation strategies
  • Help reinforce learning tasks through repetition, modelling, and scaffolded support
  • Work closely with teaching staff to implement personalised learning plans
  • Support with daily routines, transitions, and sensory or behavioural needs
  • Build a calm, trusting relationship to support engagement in lessons
  • Adapt approaches based on the pupil’s developmental profile
  • Uphold safeguarding expectations and prioritise pupil well‑being

Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • Strong experience working with SEND pupils, ideally those functioning at early developmental levels
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach when supporting complex needs
  • Confident using structured routines and personalised strategies
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities
  • Adaptable and proactive in responding to individual needs
