Your new company

Desian Education are proud to be supporting an independent SEN primary school in St Helens as they are looking to appoint a number of teaching assistants to support across all year groups.
This is an extremely supportive and inclusive specialist school that support young learners with a myriad of different needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH and SLCN, with each year groups specialising in its own remit.
As a teaching assistant within this school you will be joining an extremely supportive and welcoming team with each class consisting of the class teacher and 3 other teaching assistants. You will offer comprehensive 1:1 support to each pupil within your class, tailoring your approach to best suit individual needs and ECHP requirements. Your duties will include but may not be limited to:

• Use of PECs, Makaton and other visual references to support speech and language development
• Using a myriad of behavioural strategies including traffic light systems, sensory rooms/stimuli, positive reinforcement, team teach, etc
• Supporting during break and lunch times
• Accurately recording pupil progress and giving valid feedback/input in meetings
• Working in collaboration with external professionals including speech and language therapists, educational psychologists and occupational therapists
• Completing personal/intimate care requirements


What you need to succeed

To be considered in your application you must have full “Right to Work” in the UK, be willing to undergo full DBS screening and:

• Have relevant referenceable experience working with children between the ages of 5 - 11
• Experience supporting children and young peoples with profound SEN (special educational needs)
• Be comfortable completing personal/intimate care requirements
• Be able to commit to a full-time long-term contract
