Summary

We are currently working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Eccleston, who are seeking a dedicated KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young children with special educational needs in a nurturing Key Stage 1 environment.
The RoleAs a KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support pupils with a range of additional needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum and thrive both academically and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to KS1 pupils with SEN, including learning, communication and emotional needs
  • Support pupils with EHCP targets and contribute to their progress and attainment
  • Adapt learning materials and tasks to meet individual needs and abilities
  • Assist with the implementation of individual support plans, behaviour plans, and intervention strategies
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation through consistent and nurturing approaches
  • Support pupils with personal care or sensory needs where required, in line with school policies
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support staff
  • Observe, monitor, and record pupil progress, feeding back effectively to teaching staff
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and social development in pupils
  • Support transitions between activities and manage routines effectively
  • Uphold safeguarding, health & safety, and school policies at all times

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience supporting children with SEN, preferably within KS1 or any other child setting
  • A patient, empathetic and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • A genuine passion for supporting early years and primary-aged children
  • Full right to work in the UK
  • Available 5 days a week
