About the School:
Are you a calm, resilient and confident teaching assistant who thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about supporting young people with highly challenging behaviour?
We are currently working with a SEMH provision in Hulme (M15) that supports students aged between 11-18, who have been excluded or are unable to attend mainstream education due to behavioural, emotional or social needs. The school provides structured routines, clear boundaries, and high levels of pastoral supports to help pupils re-engage with learning and develop positive behaviours.
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will:
- Support pupils on a 1:1 basis, encouraging them to re-engage with learning and regulate emotions
- Assist in managing challenging behaviours and sometimes high-risk behaviours, using positive strategies
- Build strong, professional relationships who may struggle with trust, authority and boundaries
- Support teachers in delivering structured, engaging lessons in a highly controlled classroom environment
Requirements for Behaviour Mentor:
- Previous experience working with children/young people with SEMH/challenging behaviour is highly advantageous
- A calm, patient and resilient approach, with the ability to remain composed in challenging situations
- Confidence in setting clear and professional boundaries, consistently following behaviour management plans
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:
- Hold Right to Work in the UK
* Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
* Provide two professional, child-related references covering the last two years
