Pencaerau Primary School is a school at the heart of its community with high aspirations for all. From September 2026 Pencaerau will proudly open its new Specialist Resource Base (SRB) which will welcome pupils from across the Ely and Caerau cluster in Years Reception – Year 6; who have complex learning needs. The SRB will be an extension to our already strong approach to inclusion and will feel very much part of our community focussed school.
Pupils in our resource base will receive a specialist curriculum to support their individual needs and a sensory based approach focused on development rather than age.
The successful post holders will be responsible for supporting the specialist class teacher and address the needs of individual pupils, supporting them to overcome barriers to learning and demonstrate a commitment to the inclusion of every child and ensuring that all pupils have access to a broad and balanced curriculum.
A commitment to play based, experiential learning both indoors and outdoors is essential as is knowledge of supporting the implementation of Individual Development Plans for Pupils
We are looking for a successful candidate who has:
• experience of working with pupils with additional learning needs in either a mainstream primary or specialist setting
• an understanding of our school, its values and it’s role within the wider community
• the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
• the ability to build effective relationships with pupils, staff, parents, governors and external agencies.
