Location: Saltcoats, Ayrshire
Pay Rate: £13.73 per hour
Hour’s casual as required
Weekday cover 11-5pm
Every other sat 8hrs cover
( therefore 11hrs week 1 and 19hrs week 2 = over all 30hrs per 2 weeks )

Driver Required: Yes (Full UK driving licence manual vehicles)
About the Role
A young woman with cerebral palsy living in Saltcoats, Ayrshire is seeking a compassionate, reliable, proactive female Personal Assistant who is also a driver to support her with all aspects of daily living. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in someone’s life and help promote independence in a home and community setting.
She uses a wheelchair and requires assistance with moving and handling, including help with personal care such as toileting, dressing, and general mobility. Therefore, this role may not be suitable for individuals with a pre-existing medical condition that would prevent them from performing physical care tasks.
The support worker will also assist with spelling, typing, and written communication tasks due to the employer’s needs. The role is primarily social support but includes personal care and transport to and from a variety of activities and appointments.
The employer is actively involved in volunteering roles including:
SHOUT, a mental health charity
Girlguiding (including attending camps – some occasional weekend work may be required)
Centre Stage (as a class leader)
She also enjoys spending time with dogs and young children, so a fondness for both is important.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting with personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting
Preparing meals and assisting with feeding if required
Supporting with household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and tidying
Helping with mobility and safe movement around the home (manual handling involved)
Supporting with medication routines (training provided if needed)
Typing and spelling assistance
Driving to and from appointments and social or voluntary activities (including doctor and hair appointments)
Offering companionship and emotional support
Occasional support on weekend trips or camps (as part of Girlguiding)
About You
Female (due to occupational requirement)
Kind, patient, and respectful
Good communication skills and a positive attitude
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
Physically able to assist with moving and handling
Comfortable around dogs and young children
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle preferred
Previous experience in care is welcome but not essential – the right attitude is most important
Must be willing to undergo a PVG check (Protecting Vulnerable Groups)
