A secondary school in the Walsall area is seeking a committed Pastoral Mentor to provide daily guidance, encouragement and structured support to pupils who need an additional trusted adult in school.This role is ideal for individuals with experience in youth work, pastoral care, behaviour mentoring, SEMH support, residential care, sports coaching, or community roles who want to make a difference in an education setting.⭐ Job Title: Pastoral Mentor / Pastoral Support Assistant⭐ Location: Walsall (and surrounding areas)⭐ Start Date: ASAP⭐ Sector: Pastoral Support * SEMH * Secondary Education⭐ Hours: Full-time, school hours (Mon-Fri)About the Role - Pastoral Support in WalsallThis role focuses on improving pupils' emotional wellbeing, engagement in learning and day‑to‑day routines. You'll work closely with students who may struggle with anxiety, behaviour, confidence or social challenges.You will:
- Provide daily 1:1 pastoral mentoring
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and wellbeing
- Build strong, trusted relationships with vulnerable learners
- Encourage positive behaviour, decision‑making and resilience
- Help pupils reintegrate into lessons and maintain routines
- Monitor wellbeing plans, behaviour logs and pastoral interventions
- Liaise with teachers, pastoral teams and safeguarding leads
- Create a safe, supportive space for pupils to talk openly
