A highly supportive special school in Walsall is seeking two full‑time Complex Needs Teaching Assistants to join their dedicated team. ⭐ About the Pupils (Complex Needs / SEN Provision)
You will support pupils with a wide range of complex needs, including:
- Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
- Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
- Physical disabilities, mobility challenges & medical needs
- Autism and sensory processing needs
- Communication difficulties, including non‑verbal pupils using PECS, symbols, switches and eye‑gaze
Students require consistent, patient, calm adults who can create a structured and nurturing environment throughout the school day.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
This role is ideal for candidates experienced in care, support work, or special educational needs, or those eager to begin a career in SEN. Duties include:
- Delivering 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with high‑level needs
- Assisting with personal care, feeding, changing, mobility support and hygiene routines
- Supporting sensory activities, physiotherapy programmes and communication development
- Using specialist SEN equipment including hoists, standing frames, sensory tools and mobility aids
- Helping pupils regulate emotionally and engage positively with learning
- Working closely with teachers, therapists, and medical professionals
- Assisting with classroom preparation, routines, behaviour support and pupil engagement
Hours of Work
- Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm
- Term‑time only
- Full‑time, long‑term opportunities available
