About the Role
As Senior Network Compliance Officer, you will take lead responsibility for managing the Council’s highway safety inspection regime and enforcing the Highways Act. Your work will directly support the efficient upkeep of Hull’s highway network and contribute to a safe environment for all users.
You will work closely with the Manager – Highway Assets and colleagues across the Council, as well as engaging with a wide range of stakeholders including residents, businesses, Area Teams and elected members.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and manage the Council’s highway safety inspection programme.
Ensure compliance with the Highways Act, including taking enforcement action where required.
Support the delivery of the reactive maintenance programme.
Produce detailed reports for the insurance team relating to claims and incidents.
Act as a first point of contact for Area Teams, residents and businesses regarding concerns about highway condition and misuse.
Provide accurate information and data from the Council’s asset management system.
Represent the Council in court when required.
Work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to maintain a safe and efficient highway network.
About You
You will bring a strong background in highways maintenance or asset management, with the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation. You’ll be confident communicating with a wide range of stakeholders and capable of producing clear, evidence‑based reports. A proactive approach to problem‑solving and a commitment to public safety are essential.
Experience Preferred:
Experience of working in a highway asset management environment.
Experience of working with asset management software.
Sound knowledge and understating of the Highways Act.
Experience of service delivery.
Experience of managing performance targets.
Experience of effective team building.
Experience of highways inspections and the code of practice.
