Reed are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of Fox’s Burton’s Companies (FBC UK) for a full‑time, permanent Dispatch Operator based in Edinburgh (EH11 4HN). This role pays £14.41 per hour, with weekly pay in arrears, and the working pattern is Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6am to 6pm. FBC UK is home to some of the nation’s favourite biscuits, including Maryland, Fox’s, Jammie Dodgers and Rocky, as well as being a trusted manufacturing partner to major UK retailers. Formed through the merger of Burton’s Biscuits and Fox’s Biscuits, the company is powered by passionate people who take pride in their brands, and they’re aiming to grow from being the second‑largest biscuit manufacturer in the UK to becoming number one.
As a Dispatch Operator, you’ll be working in the dispatch area where all packaging for biscuit products is stored and organised. Your role involves using PPT and FLT equipment to move stock and pallets around the warehouse, booking products in and out, and making sure everything is accurately labelled and recorded. You’ll help maintain a safe, clean environment by following food safety, hygiene and PPE procedures, and you’ll play a key part in supporting a strong safety culture, especially when operating equipment. The role includes collecting, shrink‑wrapping and loading palletised stock using scanning systems and vehicle plans, communicating clearly during shifts and handovers, and taking part in training and development as needed.
The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator who works well with a team but is also confident making decisions independently. You should be reliable, motivated, comfortable with basic numeracy, and able to solve problems with minimal supervision. Good timekeeping and a strong awareness of health, safety and food hygiene standards are essential. Experience in food manufacturing or machine operation is desirable, and training in FLT counterbalance/reach or PPT operation would be a real advantage.
