Crynodeb
At FBC UK, biscuit making is taken seriously – although they’d be the first to admit they might be a little biased. Formed from the joining of two of the UK’s most respected biscuit manufacturers, Burton’s Biscuits and Fox’s Biscuits, FBC UK is now one integrated business producing some of the nation’s best-loved brands. From Maryland and Fox’s to Jammie Dodger and Rocky, their products sit proudly in homes across the country, alongside partnerships with some of the UK’s biggest retailers and household names. While FBC UK is currently the second-largest biscuit manufacturer in the UK, their ambition is firmly set on becoming the market leader.
The real secret behind this success is people. Passion, pride and commitment sit at the heart of everything FBC UK does, and they are always looking for individuals who can bring fresh ideas, energy and a hands-on approach. You could be the jam to their dodger, the party ring to their Fox’s or the choc-chip to their Maryland, helping to drive the business forward as part of a dedicated production team.
As a Process Operator, you will be responsible for the production and baking of biscuits across the manufacturing process. This includes activities such as moulding, baking, chocolate processing and the depositing of marshmallow, toffee and jam. You will work from production schedules, oven profiles and recipe sheets, ensuring the correct recipes are selected and followed using touchscreen systems, and that all ingredients are prepared accurately. The role involves setting up and operating key equipment such as rotary moulders, baking ovens, chocolate enrobers and chocolate coolers, making adjustments where needed to maintain quality standards and reporting any faults promptly. Regular product checks will form part of your routine to ensure products meet required specifications, alongside accurate completion of colour standards, control sheets and documentation. Maintaining a clean, tidy and hygienic working environment and ensuring plant equipment is kept clean at all times will also be essential.
This role would suit someone with production experience within a bakery or food manufacturing environment, although this is not essential as full training will be provided. You will need strong numeracy and literacy skills, with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, and the confidence to work at pace while using your initiative. You should be comfortable working in a food manufacturing setting where hygiene and safety standards are critical, and capable of lifting items of up to 15kg as part of the role.
In return, FBC UK offer a supportive working environment with a range of on-site benefits, including access to mental health first aiders and occupational health support, diversity and inclusion workshops, free parking, vending machines and discounted biscuits. New starters are also welcomed with a starter bag, including items such as a water bottle, with additional treats provided at Christmas and Easter.
If you’re looking for a stable, well-paid night shift role with a well-known manufacturer that values its people and invests in training and wellbeing, this could be a fantastic opportunity to join the FBC UK team in Edinburgh.
