Long Term Futures are recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to provide targeted 1:1 support across two-year groups in a welcoming four-form entry junior school in Rugby, rated Good by Ofsted.
This full-time role will involve supporting two pupils with complex needs: half the day in Year 3, working with a boy with ASD/Autism alongside high-level SEMH needs, and half the day in Year 5, supporting a boy with ADHD, SEMH needs and attachment-related challenges. Both pupils spend significant time learning outside of the classroom, requiring a calm, consistent and nurturing approach.
The successful candidate will be confident supporting emotional regulation, behaviour management and engagement through a trauma-informed and relationship-based approach.
The Role:
- Provide 1:1 support for two pupils across Year 3 and Year 5
- Support a Year 3 pupil with ASD and high-level SEMH needs
- Support a Year 5 pupil with ADHD, SEMH and attachment needs
- Deliver support both in and outside of the classroom
- Assist with learning tasks and tailored interventions
- Promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour
- Build consistent, trusting relationships with both pupils
- Work closely with teachers, SENCO and external professionals
- Support during transitions, breaks and unstructured times
The Ideal Candidate:
- Level 2/3 TA qualification (or equivalent)
- Experience supporting ASD, ADHD and complex SEMH needs
- Understanding of attachment and trauma-informed practice
- Calm, resilient and confident in a 1:1 setting
- Team Teach training desirable (or willingness to complete)
- Flexible across year groups and learning environments
- Able to support pupils outside of the classroom when needed
- Committed to inclusion, teamwork and positive relationships
