An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced physiotherapist with a passion for oncology and haematology to join our established inpatient team.The successful applicant should demonstrate a strong foundation in rehabilitation skills,considering the impact and consequences of cancer and its treatments, to provide individualised, patient centred, evidenced based practice to support patients with their inpatient rehabilitation and guide discharge planning.
In this role, you will have a clinical and leadership role, collaborating closely with a Band 7 Occupational Therapist to lead the team covering the inpatient oncology, haematology and infectious diseases wards.The team is dedicated and motivated to promoting service improvement and innovation in physiotherapy. The post holder will have the opportunity to share their expertise by leading in-service training and will be responsible for the support and development of junior staff and students.
The post holder will have the opportunity to participate and lead in quality improvement and service improvement projects, supported by the clinical lead. They will receive regular supervision and be encouraged to develop existing skills and lead the way in new practice.
The successful applicant should demonstrate excellent communication skills and teamworking abilities. The haemoncology therapy team works closely with other therapy disciplines, clinical nurse specialists, the ward nursing staff and the medical team. There will be opportunities for joint working with other members of the MDT within this role.
This post is part of an enhanced weekend working service and the post holder will be expected to work night on calls. This position is a fixed term post until 31stMarch 2027, but we hope there will be opportunities in the future for the creation of a substantive role within the department.
