The Interim SENCO Role (Non‑Teaching)
This interim position requires a SENCO who can quickly establish strong relationships, maintain high standards, and provide stability across the SEND provision.
Classroom Support & Modelling
- Supporting pupils with EHCPs directly within the classroom
- Modelling effective strategies to strengthen teaching and support staff practice
- Ensuring consistency and quality across all phases
Multi‑Agency Coordination
- Liaising with external professionals including therapists, educational psychologists, and specialist services
- Coordinating assessments, interventions, and follow‑up actions
- Ensuring timely communication and joined‑up support for each child
Leadership, Monitoring & Compliance
- Overseeing SEND reviews, provision mapping, and statutory processes
- Maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring compliance with SEND legislation
- Providing clear, strategic updates to senior leaders
Parent Partnership & Community Engagement
- Leading parent drop‑in sessions to support home learning and strengthen relationships
- Offering guidance, reassurance, and practical strategies to families
- Building trust and maintaining strong communication with parents and carers
What We're Looking For
A confident, adaptable SENCO who can step into an interim role with ease. Essential requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- NASENCO Award
- Previous primary SENCO experience
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Warm, approachable, and solution‑focused
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
