Job Title: GP Practice Receptionist
Job Summary:
We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and well-organised Receptionist to join our GP practice team. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, providing a welcoming, efficient, and confidential service. Previous experience in a GP practice or healthcare setting is desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet patients in a professional and courteous manner, in person and over the telephone
Book, cancel, and manage appointments using the clinical system
Handle patient enquiries and requests sensitively and confidentially
Register new patients and update patient records accurately
Process repeat prescription requests in line with practice procedures
Liaise with clinicians, practice staff, and external services as required
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised reception area
Follow practice policies, including confidentiality and data protection
Skills and Experience:
Previous experience as a GP receptionist or in a healthcare setting (preferred)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong IT skills and confidence using computer systems
Ability to work well under pressure in a busy environment
Good organisational skills and attention to detail
A professional, calm, and empathetic approach to patient care

Reliable and punctual
Discreet and respectful of patient confidentiality
A team player with a positive attitude
