What skills and experience we're looking for

As the SENCO you will work closely with our leadership team in managing the school’s systems for Special Educational and Additional Learning Needs. You will collaborate with our Inclusion Lead and oversee the day-to-day support of some of our most vulnerable and challenging young people at LEAP.

You will support our staff in their awareness and understanding of our students’ needs and inclusive approaches and strategies in teaching and learning, as well as oversee screening processes and manage the school’s SEN cohort along with our existing SENCOs, all of whom are experienced, dedicated and hard-working practitioners at LEAP.

You will also play an important role liaising with families and external agencies, share and support their understanding of a child’s needs, set meaningful targets for joint working and review plans and provisions for our students’ support.

Our students need much more than excellent classroom practitioners with good subject knowledge: they need someone with experience of and a preference for working with hard to reach, often vulnerable children.

They need teachers who will care about their progress, practitioners who are able to support them with their personal development and wellbeing through education. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to the LEAP aims, values and ethos and a proven track record of delivering excellent outcomes for students, including those with complex behavioural and SEND needs.

What the school offers its staff
