Summary

Fire Service & Maintenance Engineer

Location: Scunthorpe / Doncaster

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £28,295 – £42,440 per annum + overtime, travel time & out-of-hours retainer fees

Our client is seeking an experienced Fire Service & Maintenance Engineer to join a successful, growing, and highly motivated team. This role is primarily focused on PPM servicing, along with the maintenance, repair, and compliance of life safety systems. You will play a key role in ensuring Health & Safety standards are met across a variety of sites, working in different environments every day.

As an engineer, you will be trusted to act as the face of the business, engaging professionally with clients and consistently delivering excellent customer service.

Our client is a leading national provider of fire safety, security, and electrical services to the Social Housing sector. Due to continued contract wins and business growth, they are expanding their engineering team and are looking for skilled professionals to carry out installations, inspections, testing, servicing, and repairs.

Key Responsibilities

• Service, maintain, and install fire alarm systems in line with BS5839-1, along with emergency lighting systems, nurse call, and access control systems
• Complete accurate engineer service reports
• Identify and report system deficiencies or deviations
• Inspect and maintain emergency lighting systems and associated equipment, including fire extinguishers and AOVs
• Carry out regular van stock checks and liaise with the Engineering Technical Supervisor and Procurement team to ensure adequate stock levels
• Maintain a strong Health & Safety focus, identifying risks and reporting concerns promptly
• Aim to achieve a first-time fix wherever possible

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• A flexible approach to work, with a minimum of 40 hours per week (Monday–Friday) and willingness to work overtime, weekends, and participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota
• A full UK driving licence
• Proven experience working with fire alarm systems, including analogue addressable and conventional systems
• FIA training (or equivalent) to BS5839-1 Fundamentals
• A strong understanding of BS5839 Part 1 and Part 6
• Good IT skills
• A solid understanding of workplace Health & Safety regulations
