Design Engineer – Doncaster – up to 60k.
Leading a team of engineering cad technicians, ensuring designs are robust, compliant, and delivered on time. Part of the senior management team, you will interpret and challenge the business’s engineering design function, advise on best practice, most appropriate design suites, recognise issues and drive improvements.
As the Design Engineer, your responsibilities include:
Taking the lead in the department, you will use your exceptional knowledge of heavy engineering design and experience of 2D and 3D software and packages, to take ownership, ensuring high-quality, compliant, and cost-effective designs are delivered in line with customer and business requirements. Managing changes in complex designs similar to those found within mining, processing, and motor driven systems.
Reporting to the head of operations and collaborating with all departments to leverage shared resources and expertise for innovation and efficiency.
This is a highly communicative position as you will act as a key interface between the design office, production, projects, service and sales teams, supporting manufacturing and installation teams by resolving design queries and technical issues and contributing to project reviews, technical meetings, and business planning activities.
Requirements
It is essential that applicants have proven experience leading or coordinating a design team within a heavy Industrial machinery design, manufacturing, and engineering environment.
Strong working knowledge of engineering design standards and practices and proficiency in relevant CAD systems (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar).
You must be able to manage design workloads, priorities, and deadlines.
It is expected that the post holder will have a degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent) along with experience of engineering designing.
As well as a salary of up to £60k, the Lead Design Engineer, can expect:
Hours of work: Monday to Thursday: 8am – 5pm, finishing at 4.30pm on Fridays.
Holidays: Up to 34 inc. over 5 years (20 days plus your birthday, plus bank holidays and an additional day for every completed 12 months of the holiday calendar year, up to a maximum of 25 Days).
