Job Title: Plant Preparation Assistant (Seasonal)
Location: Mires Beck Nursery, North Cave, HU15 2NR
Hours: 19.5 hours per week (Monday – Wednesday, 3 days per week)
Contract: Seasonal, fixed-term (April – end of June 2026)
Start Date: 6 April 2026
The Role
We are looking for a Plant Preparation Assistant to join our nursery team for the 2026 spring season. Reporting to the Plant Preparation Team Leader, you will work as part of a small team that includes adults with learning and physical disabilities and autism. You will help ensure plants are prepared to a high standard while contributing to a positive, supportive working environment to prepare plants for sale, delivery and collection.
Key Responsibilities
• Selecting and collecting plants in line with customer orders
• Preparing plants for sale, ensuring they are healthy, clean, and well presented
• Accurately labelling plants
• Loading plants onto Dutch trolleys in the correct order for delivery
• Preparing a range of plants for customer selection
• Ensuring plants are ready to the required standard and on time for delivery or collection
• Handing over prepared orders to the Delivery Driver
• Maintaining plants on dispatch benches
• Supporting service users in day-to-day tasks, as appropriate
• Assisting with general nursery duties as requested
What We’re Looking For
• A positive, patient, and inclusive approach to working with others
• Ability to work well as part of a team and follow direction from the Team Leader
• An interest in plants or horticulture (experience helpful but not essential)
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail
Additional Information
This role requires an enhanced DBS check, which will be paid for by us
Seasonal outdoor work – suitable clothing will be required
