Job Title: Retail Assistant x2 (Seasonal)
Location: Mires Beck Nursery, North Cave, HU15 2NR
Hours: Various, including some weekends
Contract: Seasonal, fixed-term (March– end of October 2026)
Start Date: March 2026
The Role
We are currently looking to recruit two Retail Assistants to join our friendly retail team for the 2026 season (Contract from March–October). These are part-time roles suited to individuals with an interest in retail, customer service and plants / gardening. The role is practical and customer-facing, requiring a friendly, helpful approach and a willingness to learn. Some weekend working will be required. A rota will be in place and can be discussed if you have any queries — please contact us for further information.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist customers with product selection, providing expert advice on plants, flowers, and gardening, offering excellent customer service, ensuring a positive and friendly experience
• Support with day-to-day tasks, including stocking benches, setting up displays, process transactions at the tills and assisting in the coffee shop as needed
• Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised environment, including, replenishing tea and coffee area, organising benches / display areas and ensuring plants are correctly watered and cared for
• Assist with stock management, including unpacking deliveries and ensuring products are correctly priced and displayed
• To ensure proper health and safety procedures are carried out as instructed by the Team Leader Management Team
What We’re Looking For
• Retail or customer-facing experience and/or an interest in plants and gardening
• A passion for delivering excellent customer service
• Experience in retail, garden centres, merchandising or floristry is desirable
• Basic maths skills with the ability to use a till and handle cash
• Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
• Physically fit for an active role, including some lifting
• Willingness to learn new skills and gain plant knowledge
Additional Information
This role requires an enhanced DBS check, which will be paid for by us
Seasonal outdoor work – suitable clothing will be required
