We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team of HVAC Mechanic's at the 100th Civil Engineer Squadron, Royal Air Force (RAF) Mildenhall , United Kingdom

The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in accomplishing trades and labor work of the Heating, ventilation and Air Conditioning Shop. This will include directing HVAC electricians and HVAC/Boiler System equipment mechanics in finding solutions and providing technical guidance when troubleshooting problem areas. You will access, operate and provide information base-wide on the RAF Mildenhall Boiler/ HVAC and energy management computer operating system (BMS/EMS) as well as perform work planning, direction and administration responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:
NVQ level 3 - City & Guilds 6188-30 /6188-31/6188-32/6288-31 and a minimum of one year of specialized experience as per the required key skills.

What are the Key Skills required for this role?
1. Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of HVAC systems and personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/ Equal Employment Treatment.
2. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Knowledge of the use and maintenance of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and /or test equipment common to trades supervised.
4. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications.
5. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission.
6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

What are the conditions of employment for this role?
1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations.
2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential.
3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period
4. Your hours of work will be 39 hours per week on a fixed schedule (Mon-Fri 0800-1630) where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization’s flexible working policies. Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.
5. You must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
6. Successful completion of a pre-appointment physical/health screening is required. Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
7. You are required to possess a valid driver’s license (Category B) in order to drive a motor vehicle to and from work sites.
8. You may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Emergency overtime may be required.
9. You may work with hazardous materials such as asbestos or accumulated waste and you will be required to wear protective clothing and gear on these occasions.
10. You are required to maintain appropriate certifications in accordance with US and UK industry standards.
11. You must successfully complete in-house system familiarization and pass review with DIO Authorized Person (Boilers and Pressure Systems) to gain Skilled Person certification.
